A new generation of students are creating their own employment, instead of the traditional path of looking for a job in high school. Young entrepreneurs are beginning to turn their interests and hobbies into projects which are profitable. These young entrepreneurs use social media as their tool to reach a wider audience and market their products in order to build customers.
Cindy C, a young entrepreneur, started her own business, working alone, named “Cindy’s Total Creation” around two years ago. The products of her business are eternal bouquets, making her target audience, being anyone who is interested in buying eternal bouquets. Cindy makes her flowers by hand. She says “I make the flowers out of silk ribbon and glue them together, to make each bouquet as big as the customer wants it.” Her bouquets flower amounts vary from 7 to 50, depending on what the customer wants.
Cindy began her after wanting to buy her mom flowers. She shares, “I wanted to buy my mom some flowers, but they’re so expensive, so why not just buy the materials to make it?” She then began gifting people flowers, and decided she wanted to start selling them.
Sarah C also enjoys flowers and floral displays and began her business, called “Floral Arrangements” as a young entrepreneur, around one and a half years ago, during the summer. She began working with her friends, but later began working by herself. She uses social media as a tool to promote her business, her target audience being anyone. Sarah offers a variety of products from eternal flowers, bakery sweets, and any type of arrangements one may like.

Sarah says that she got the idea to begin this business with her friends. She continues saying “It started with my friends. We started kind of working together with some orders, helping each other out.” Later, she says that they separated and created their own individual businesses.
Ashely G, another young entrepreneur with her own business, began back in May 2023, which was her freshman year of high school. She says she offers “artificial roses so it lasts for a long time for the person they love to show that their love is eternal. With her business “Ashley’s Bloomsz”. She offers her products to “people who want to buy the roses for their loved ones or someone that’s special to them,” she says.
Students create their own employment through turning their interests into a profit, changing the traditional high school job searching. Young entrepreneurs such as Cindy, Sarah, and Ashely are using social media and their creativity to build employment, overall making profit.
