Another sports season has come to close as the school year wraps up. Kenwood’s Varsity Softball team has had an amazing season. The team ended with a is 16-3 record. The team had some remarkable wins.
According to Mrs. Shay, the assistant coach, “The team has done a complete 180 since last year.” She also stated, “The players worked together as one, stayed positive through wins and losses and always gave 110%.” She said the team has met her expectations and more this season by “being polite and kind, cheering for their teammates, and being a good and supporting human being”. It was a memorable season with the team beating all the teams in their division.
This year’s team also made history this season as their first time being ranked number one in their division for softball. Courtney Singleton, our pitcher, first baseman, and one of the team captains explained that playing gives her a sense of leadership and responsibility. She said, “having a positive mindset helps me prepare for games and practices.”
The Kenwood girls lacrosse team also had a successful season as they were the #1 seed in the region and hosted Perry Hall in the Regional Final. Breana Mabry was awarded the Karl Wolf award in the Karl Wolf Memorial Tournament.
