JROTC is more than uniforms, tests, saluting, and performing movements. There’s much to celebrate in regards to the discipline that goes in to being a JROTC member. That recognition takes place at the annual Kenwood JROTC Military Ball.
On May 22, 2026 at The Dundalk American Legion Post 38, Major Blades and Chief Master Sergeant Hall hosted their 2025-2026 school year Military Ball to promote their cadets, honor their achievements, send off their seniors, and to announce the leadership for the following year.
Instructor Major Blades shared how proud he is of this year’s cadets. “Every year we lose a leadership team, and gain a new one that will have to learn everything again. It doesn’t make things harder; it makes things easier as the new leadership learns at the beginning of the year to become a well oiled machine. Of course I’m proud, cadets in MD-941 are expected to maintain high standards of professionalism, attention to detail, maintenance of the uniforms, and it is my job to maintain them.”
Kenwood senior, Shaun Mckenna explains how they choose leadership. “We look at how you are with other cadets, how much you impact JROTC, the potential you show, and how well you can command other cadets.”
Brand new Deputy Corp Commander Ayden Daniels is excited about his new role. “It’s an honor really. I thought I would only get a squadron commander position but this is different and I hope I can do my best. It feels a little bit out of my league,” he shared.
This year’s military ball was a much earned and joyous celebration. Not only did everyone have a great time, but cadets saw their seniors off as a final farewell from JROTC to them. Hopefully it will be even better next year as we strive to honor the lasting legacy and memories of our graduating cadets.
