Prom is a big deal for high school students especially seniors as it is a “last hoorah” to finish up the high school experience. This year’s senior prom was hosted last Friday, May 8 down in the Inner Harbor at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. This year’s theme was Meet Me at Midnight.
Because we are such a large school, we have a separate junior and senior prom. Senior advisor Mr. Keener explained, “A senior prom advisor gives the reason why it was separated. “Prom was separated between the seniors and juniors because we wanted to give seniors their solo moment. Also it would always be too crowded.” The junior prom was hosted back on April 24 at the FOP Lodge with the theme of Mysterious Night in Vegas.
There are many layers to prom that make it such a special anticipated event. From what to wear, who you attend, where it is and how’s the food? Prom is important to a lot of students as it is some of the last lasting memories of high school and childhood.
Kenwood senior Janessa Gelido looked forward to the night, “As long as I get to dress up and have fun, it’ll be a good night.”
Kenwood’s senior prom for several years now has been held down in the Inner Harbor at the Baltimore Museum of Industry as it presents a beautiful backdrop of the city and water and presents a fancy, elegant setting with a space large enough to hold Kenwood’s senior class.
Junior and senior prom night was a night of memories for both classes. “It was a night to remember,” shared senior Jayla, a sentiment shared by many.
