Earlier in the Fall, Kenwood welcomed some new clubs to give students a variety of options to get involved and be a part of something here at KHS after school hours. The majority of these new clubs are hosted on Tuesdays and Thursdays because there is now an activity bus that arrives at Kenwood around 4:30 to begin transporting students home around 4:50.
The activity bus stops at Essex Elem, Orems Elem, Martin Blvd, Middle River MS, Oliver Beach Elem, Chase Elem, Seneca Elem, and Hawthorne Elem. The school also offers snacks for students after school too.
One of the popular club choices that has really taken off is Mr. Remmell’s gaming club. The gaming club is for all kinds of games- board games, video games, card games, anything. If you love to engage in games of any kind it’s a great way to connect with other students who enjoy the same thing?
It is an opportunity to socialize and strategize through playing games. Donations are encouraged to help this club have a variety of gaming options. As of right now, there are a few donations of board and card games, however, Mr. Remmel is looking for help from students to create and run a Dungeons and Dragons campaign.
Bringing in personal consoles like Nintendo Switches are also allowed and encouraged. The club meets Tuesdays after school in Mr. Remmell’s room, 127. Getting involved in extracurricular activities after school is a great way to socialize.
Mrs. Barr’s Fashion Club is another growing club here at KHS. They meet in Mrs. Barr’s room 140 on Wednesdays. If you have a passion for fashion or an interests in being a future fashion designer or just want to spend time with other fashionistas it may be the after school club for you!

Bluebird Bites with Chef Jeff and Craftistic Crafts with Ms. Reed and SK are two other after school clubs that are meeting regularly this year. If your creative passion is cooking or baking or crafts be sure to check either of these two clubs out. “We do a different hands-on craft each week, but students are more than welcome to come and do their own thing. We made tie-dye shirts before break, made dream catchers last week, and today we are getting crafty with polymer clay,” shares Ms. Reed about the Craft-tastic Club which meets on Tuesdays in the MRP from 245-400.
Bluebird Bistro took off this Fall with 10-16 students showing up Thursdays at 2:45 to 4:15pm in room 210 (Bluebird Bistro). “We prep, Cook, and plate Ready-To-Eat Meals for the food distribution on Fridays out of the pantry,” shares Chef Jeff.
Potential clubs Kenwood is interested in running if there’s enough student interest would be:
Fitness Club with Mr. Michelucci
Book Club with Ms. Single
Kenwood Cares Community Impact Club with Ms. Barton
Get involved! You won’t regret it!
