Sports Science Academy students, Cadence Buchanan (10) and Yarah Quintero-Figueroa
(11) and AVID student- Victoria Kerner (11) were able to attend the Baltimore Ravens 9th
Annual Leading and Inspiring Females to Thrive (LIFT) event at the Under Armour Performance
Center on April 4th!
The Baltimore Raven’s goal is to “empower the next generation of female
athletes to harness and develop their leadership skills, to help them succeed, both on and
off the field”.
They engaged these young women in a conversation about how the skills they
utilize during their sport translate to their off-field endeavors (relationships, college,
workplace, professional sports arena, etc…). They were able to listen to a panel of women
in sports leadership and coaches, as well as participate in a group workout!
During their time at the Ravens Castle, the girls were able to tour the facility, and get to know the Ravens coach John Harbaugh, and some of the team staff that daily helps the team prepare for the
games! The Raven coaches helped set up some workouts, team bonding, as well as some
fun interactive games. Throughout the time the girls were at the Castle, their experience
was a once-in-a-lifetime thing, but there were other years with other things the girls could
learn!
