“Jobs not finished” by Kobe Bryant was the attitude the boys soccer team had as they traveled to C. Milton Wright High School for their playoff game on Saturday, October 30. They went all in as they looked to win and advance to the next round of the playoffs. Unfortunately, they lost, ending their season.

With a record of 7-3-1 the team managed to win their division although they lost 3 and tied 1. They were motivated to learn from their mistakes as they faced off against C. Milton Wright for the 3A Boys Soccer North Region II Semifinals on October 30. It was a disappointing loss, but overall the Bluebirds still had a successful season.

Senior captains Paul Catalfamo and Richard Reynolds played their last high school game along with Francisco Torres, Brian Romero, and Augustine Quiwonkpa. Senior goalkeeper Francisco Torres was hopeful for his last season after a shortened junior year season.  “I’m hoping for nothing but the best because if we wanted to win we all needed to give our best performance.”

For returning players next year, they’re looking forward to what’s next for the team when they return next Fall. Emerson Posadas, who gets to have another season with the Bluebirds next year, said “I’m looking forward to next year. We want to go all out.”

Kenwood Soccer Coach and Former Player Kingsley Onkuwa said, “I’m very proud of the effort this season. Our efforts were rewarded with a 7-3-1 regular season record and a second round playoff spot. The team is filled with returning players who have gained valuable experience this year. The experience will carry over to next season and I’m looking forward to it.”

Although the season ended with a playoff loss, the boys’ soccer team kept their heads up high. They look forward to next year as they move up a division to Division 2. They’re all proud of their efforts as they look to improve and train to get better for next season. They’re determined to be a team to watch out for next year.
