With the perfect blend of skill, teamwork, and determination , the Kenwood volleyball teams are serving up success on the court this year.
Kenwood’s JV volleyball team held a strong winning streak with an outstanding 13-2 record! “Our key to success this season was definitely talking about what we did wrong during games. This helped us get better and over come those errors,” shared sophomore Keydi Rosa.
Teamwork played a key roll in their success. The team’s toughest match was Randallstown due to them having trouble with short-left and deep taking corner serves. The proudest win was Patapsco as it was a fair game and gave them a challenge. But they overcame it and won! Keydi Rosa adds, “Our teamwork improved a lot throughout the season with communication. It helped us achieve those crucial game points in close matches.”
Kenwood’s varsity volleyball heads in to playoffs tonight here at home at 5pm against Dundalk. Though the team heads in to playoffs with a 6-9 record, those six losses come from the first six matches of the season, they’re taking a winning streak in to play offs!
Coach Ronda adds “Though the team currently holds a 6-9 record, they’ve showed tremendous growth and resilience throughout this season.”
Middle hitter, #9 Makaylah Kirk, has had an exceptional season. During Senior Night against Patapsco, she recorded 7 blocks and 12 aces, demonstrating her dominance at the net. Kenwood’s outside hitter, #4 Amya Wall, continues to shine. She recently reached 150 career aces and has been a vital part of the Kenwood volleyball program for the past four years.
Coach Ronda adds “These girls refused to give up and remained determined to improve. Their perseverance truly paid off as we wrap up the season. They’ve shown what it means to “stand on business” this season!”
Come cheer on your lady Bluebirds tonight here at home!
