My senior lacrosse season has come to an end but number and stat wise, this has been the best season in my four years of playing for the Kenwood boys lacrosse team! During my freshman year we had a lot of new people who have never touched the sport in their life including me.
In the beginning four years ago, playing this sport started off rough and it got so bad we ended the season 0-12; however, this did not stop me from falling in love with the sport which goes to show sports are about more than winning.
For the next two seasons we’ve had returners, along with new people coming to the team which helped us tremendously in the long run. By my sophomore season we went 3-9 and last year we went 5-7.
When this season started it seemed that all was lost when we lost our first game of the season to our rival school Parkville which lowered our chances of winning the division championship but that did not keep our heads down and we pushed ourselves to continue getting better.
As the season went on, we won games and lost games, but never stopped aiming towards the goal of being the best team in the county. We ended our regular season with a 7-5 record, making this the lacrosse team’s first winning season in almost half a decade!
We hosted Perry Hall last week and lost a hard fought game. As it’s my last season playing high school lacrosse, I can definitely confirm the team will be left better then I found it and really enjoyed my journey as a Bluebird lacrosse player!
