Scholarships are something all with ambitions to go to college hope for but applying for them are a necessary but tedious task of searching and meeting the requirements to qualify. But for Aryannah Burley, she not only met the requirements but earned herself a $20,000 scholarship to pay for her tuition!
Aryannah, an AVID senior and star of Kenwood’s female wrestling team, has won the Dell Scholarship, in which only 500 NATIONWIDE are chosen annually. Aryannah has made it to the top 4% of applicants and acquired herself $20,000, a Dell Laptop, and $2,000 to spend on textbooks for her college endeavors!
The hardest part about applying for scholarships is “writing essays” and “finding time searching for scholarships”, said Aryannah, who keeps up with academics on top of scholarships. With the help of AVID teacher, Ms. Komorowski, Aryannah completed the process of finding and applying for Dell Scholarship. Aryannah soon got an email notifying her of her acceptance who she told Ms. James about before she even realized what a big deal it was.
“I was proud of myself,” she says. “I would’ve never thought I would get this scholarship!” After high school, Aryannah is planning on doing four years at Towson University, majoring in Political Science and minoring in Business or Finance. After getting her Bachelors degree, she is planning on joining the military or law enforcement.
