Basketball season has concluded and though it was a season of growth, the Kenwood boys basketball
team showed what it truly means to play with love and determination for a sport. From the first start of the season it was rocky but the Kenwood boys basketball team exceeded the odds by winning their share of games.
Every player gave it their all, showing that teamwork is the way to success. No matter if they were on the court or in the locker room, these athletes supported each other through every win or loss. This season they may have faced many challenges, but they rose through the challenges together, building memories that will last a lifetime.
For the girls basketball team, the season may have not gone how they had hoped in terms of wins and loses, but wins and loses aren’t always measured by numbers. Each day this group of young women have showed to not only become better athletes but better people as well.
From late away games cheering Varsity on Monday-Saturday morning practices while their classmates are asleep, these ladies showed progress throughout the season on the court, whether it be through defense, communication, or staying positive when the ball didn’t bounce their way. The trials and tribulations they have endured did not go unnoticed by the coaches. Their discipline and efforts will pay off next year to become one of the top teams in the county. “Thank you, ladies, see you next year. It’s great to be better than you were yesterday,” shared Coach Troy.
To conclude the season two senior girls, Ayanna Alark and Dameira Wooden, were selected for the Senior All Star team for the All Star Game on March 27 at 6pm at Milford Mill Academy. We wish them well in representing Kenwood.
