Mr. Ladd has been overseeing KHS instrumental program for over a decade. KHS band and orchestra play at school games and events, hosts two concerts a year, and compete in various solo and ensemble festivals and competitions at the end of year in which their skills are judged by a panel of judges.
Mrs. Chappell oversees Kenwood’s Concert Choir. They too compete in Spring competitions. The Kenwood Concert Choir students received an EXCELLENT rating at the BCPS Choral Assessments this year. “All of them worked incredibly hard for this rating, which includes an excellent rating in sight-reading!” shares Mrs. Chappell.
On Saturday, March 1, Kenwood’s student musicians completed in the BCPS Solo/Ensemble Festival. Several received high scores with a handful of students getting to move on to compete at States in May!
The following 13 Band and Orchestra students achieved a Superior rating at the BCPS S0olo/Ensemble Festival and are qualified to compete at “States”, a MMEA Statewide Solo/Ensemble festival in May.
