The Super Bowl took place on February 9th, 2025. However, the teams returning to the Superbowl didn’t seem to generate much excited. They almost generated more groans than cheers.
The teams for this year’s Superbowl were the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles. Since 2020 the Chiefs have been to the SuperBowl 5 times and this year was going for their possible third Superbowl win in a row to make history. However, the Eagles who they beat in the 2023 Superbowl beat them this year with a score of 22-40.
When the Chiefs first made the Superbowl because they haven’t been in decades many across the country were excited to see the Chiefs make it, but now it seems that excitement has overstayed its welcome. Junior N’Naya Simmons shares that “The Superbowl is a Superbowl nobody really wanted. No one wants to see the Chiefs go four years in a row.” So even though the Chiefs are a good team, it seems people are ready for a new underdog to take the Superbowl stage.
According to “Vox”, the Chiefs are stated to be a very good team, however they are “overexposed”. There are a lot of people who hate the chiefs mainly because they are said to be favored by the refs. However, despite everyone being so sure the Chiefs were going to win the Superbowl for the third time in a row, it wasn’t even that close of a game, with the Eagles pretty much dominating the whole game and Patrick Mahomes having one of the worst games of his career according to some.
Kenwood junior was excited to see his Eagles win. “I was so happy and definitely bragged to my friends about the Eagles stomping the Chiefs.”
But with the Eagles and Chiefs taking the main stage of professional football two of three past years, more of us than not are hoping for some new teams to make the Superbowl next year.
