The Kenwood Cheerleading season is winding down but as always KHS Cheer has a strong tradition here at the nest.
Often cheerleading is seen as the support to other teams but cheerleading in itself is its own sport as our KHS Cheerleaders engage in many competitions throughout the year. Though their school pride is strong, so are they, as cheerleading takes some of its own athleticism to compete.
Kenwood Cheerleading is a combination of dance, gymnastics, and acrobatics to create entertaining routines. Cheerleading is more than just cheers and pom-poms, it demands athleticism, teamwork, and dedication. Kenwood Cheerleading is important because they promote physical fitness, collaboration, and leadership. They also empower athletes to build confidence and show discipline.
Coach Naomi and Coach Twyna are the coaches behind the cheerleading team. JV took third place at the annual Harvest Cheer Fest this past fall. The JV Cheerleading team also place second in the Baltimore County JV Fall Championships while our Varsity Cheerleading team ended their fall season in the Top 5 at Varsity Counties.
As the winter season wraps up, varsity will complete in the Winter Varsity Counties tomorrow on January 29. Come support the team that supports all the other Kenwood athletic teams.
If you’d like to be a part of the Kenwood Cheerleading Program registrations for the Spring season are happening. Now this is a great opportunity for anyone with or without experience to join and giving cheerleading a try before competition season returns next school year.
Cheering for Dreams to Take Flight

In a land where dreams take flight,
A squad assembles in the night,
Their voices rise, a mighty cheer,
In every heart, they cast out fear.
With every jump and every bound,
They lift each other from the ground,
Their unity, a beacon bright,
Guiding all through darkest night.
Pom Poms sparkle like the stars above,
In every move, they shared their love,
Through trails faced and victories won,
They shine together, like the sun.
For cheerleading is more than a sport,
It’s a story of strength and heartfelt support,
An allegory of life’s grand dreams.
