It’s hard to believe it’s the holiday season here at KHS already. With the month of November comes the reminder to be thankful and express gratitude for the things and people in our life.
Gratitude is the appreciation of the good things in one’s life. An attitude of gratitude involves actively acknowledging and appreciating blessings, big and small. Cultivating gratitude shifts focus from what’s lacking to what’s present,
It’s easy in life to get hung up on the things not going right but expressing gratitude involves recognizing and valuing the kindness of others and the positive aspects of your experiences.
Though it’s the season to be thankful for what we have, we should practice gratitude all year. “When you have an attitude of gratitude, you are consistently happy and thankful with what you have, and rarely selfish over other things. Having gratitude can change your outlook on life by making you happy for the small things, and not so worried about the big things,” shares junior Breanna R.
Expressing gratitude creates a more positive and optimistic outlook on life which in turn leads to increased happiness and well-being. “Having gratitude can help you have a positive outlook on life, especially during hard times,” adds junior Savannah N.
What are you thankful for this holiday season? Don’t forget to tell those you’re grateful for how much you appreciate them and what they provide in your life. We hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving!
