On Veteran’s Day, Monday November 11, 200 (is this accurate?) American flags were purchased by the KHS/Essex Community to display in front of Kenwood High School to honor our veterans.
Kenwood’s JROTC Program organized the display by asking for community members to “sponsor a flag” for $6. Interested parties used the QR code provided to make their purchase which also helps support Kenwood’s JROTC.
“The local community has always been supportive of the active-duty service members and the veterans. The community was excited and happily be and show support by sponsoring the flags and talking or showing off the flags at Kenwood High School last week,” shares Kenwood’s Major Blades.
The goal was to create a display that represented the hundreds of Kenwood alum who are proud veterans. It created a beautiful display for our local veterans in the community to view as they passed the school on Veterans Day.
“The American flag represents EVERY American. Many men, women, soldiers, sailors, airmen , and Marines have given their lives in defense of our nation. The American flag represents the sacrifices made by those brave men and women and the freedoms that we as Americans enjoy,” adds Major Blades.
The community appreciated the display. KHS parent Megan Tracey-Kaszak shares, “Witnessing the flags flowing in honor and memory of our community’s veterans was truly inspiring! Supporting the JROTC fundraiser was a delight and I eagerly anticipate their future community endeavors!”
Thank you again to the men and women in our community that has served our country.
