The end of the school year is known as prom season. Kenwood’s proms took place earlier in May. The Junior Prom was on Friday, may 3 at the Rosedale Gardens and the Senior Prom was the following Friday on May 10 at the Baltimore Museum of Industry.
Prom is much anticipated event for upperclassmen as it’s a time to dress up, attend a catered event with music to dance away the night, celebrate the end of the school year with peers and even teachers that attend, and capture the night in photos. Senior Advisor Mr. Keener adds,“Prom is a special night where the seniors can celebrate their hard work and long journey with all their friends.”
It takes all school year mostly to plan for prom. There are the caterers and DJ to schedule, as well as the theme with decorations and party favors to plan for.
The junior prom colors were black, red, and gold to support the theme “Dripping in Luxury.” Kyle Rineman and Alyssa Robertson were selected as the junior Prom King and Queen. Because the junior class raised so much money they were able to host their prom outside of Kenwood with a ticket cost of $. Junior Naomi Parks loved attending her first prom, sharing, “Prom was lots of fun and I had an amazing time there.”
Senior Prom is often more expensive with those tickets costing $96.00. Their theme was “Hollywood” and their selected Prom King and and Queen were Austin Mbuyi and Trinity Bassinger. Ms. Single who has attended several of Kenwood’s Prom during her time at KHS, loves seeing all the seniors at one of their last big events together. “Prom was great. I loved seeing all the kids dressed up, and I am glad I went. The desserts were awesome too.”
Prom is often a night to remember from one’s high school experience. We hope everyone had a memorable night they’ll treasure from their time here at KHS as they move on to the next chapters in their lives.
