Poet Angelina Dehn and artist Amadou Diallo are our feature of the week on the Creative Corner. Their poetic voice and imagery of the fading sun, brings us in to the world of dreams.
Be sure to check out Kenwood’s past creative writings and art published in our annual literary magazine The Bluebird Voice . This is the fifth year of the return of the Bluebird Voice here at Kenwood High. Interested student writers and artists can learn more about publication opportunities with the newspaper, yearbook, and literary magazine here at Kenwood by seeing Ms. Glenn or Ms. Cooper in the English wing.
The Dream

I open my eyes.
In a room I don’t recognize.
The walls decay.
A table of wood and roses.
A single paper resting upon it.
Letters written in purple ink.
Like blood dripped from a flower.
Every Thought etched into the paper.
Liturachure flowing down all sides.
I try to read it but it blurs.
Once a writer myself I could help but wonder.
The floor cracks.
Giving away to new life.
The green peaks through.
Pressuring it open.
Cracking more as pieces give way.
I fall through the light blinding me.
A splash of water and bubbles rise.
I get up and see the moon.
One shining circle in the sky.
Peering down at me like an ant.
So peaceful.
I wake up.
A warm drip on my face as I sit up.
Sheets covered red.
I laugh.
Fingers turn red as I wipe my head.
I lay down.
Setting my head on a cloud.
Birds chirp.
Blue fills my vision.
I close my eyes as the peace rains in.
