Poet Morgan Frankos and artist Amadou Diallo are our feature of the week on the Creative Corner. Be sure to check out Kenwood’s past creative writings and art published in our annual literary magazine The Bluebird Voice . This is the fifth year of the return of the Bluebird Voice here at Kenwood High. Interested student writers and artists can learn more about publication opportunities with the newspaper, yearbook, and literary magazine here at Kenwood by seeing Ms. Glenn or Ms. Cooper in the English wing.
Ingrown
By Morgan Frankos
You started out as a tiny speck
Not noticeable
Not worth my time
Days, weeks, months went by
I had forgotten about you
As I look in the mirror to see behind
You have grown
I can feel you
I rub my fingers along the bump
Your veins are little rivers that carry my secrets
I don’t look into you long
I’m afraid if I do
I won’t want to go back
Your void is panic inducing
A hollow place inside my mind
I should have dealt with you
The thorn that could have been dug out is now beyond repair
I am in agony just waiting for you to take me
For you to realize that I don’t have much left to give
