Kenwood’s Air Force Junior ROTC recently had the mandatory all Cadet Inspection and Assessment by the US Air Force Representative. During this Assessment, the USAF who funds this program along with BCPS reviewed over 100 separate areas for inspection, compliance, and evaluation of how effective the program here at Kenwood is.

Kenwood’s AFJROTC program is designed to enhance our students’ abilities to grow within our school and in our communities, through academic and in the most visible ways by wearing their cadet uniform or participating in specialty events such as the cafeteria meal service, Drill, Aviation Technology programs, parades, first responder awareness clubs, and warrior fitness training.

As a result of this assessment there were many significant findings. Here at Kenwood through our AFJROTC program students have the following opportunities:

  1. Cadets can earn their FAA private pilots written endorsement
  2. Cadets can earn Collegiate Credits through an articulation agreement with CCBC
  3. AFJROTC provides Aviation subject matter experts (COL Castaldi & SMSgt Stone ) in Aviation Technology throughout the entire BCPS system and within Maryland
  4. Cadets , if they choose to enter military service, may enter at a higher pay rate
  5. Kenwood’s AFJROTC has a defined aviation partnerships on a national and international basis with the United Kingdom Royal Air Force Air Cadets and California’s Redding High School AFJROTC

Throughout this assessment process, Kenwood’s JROTC appreciates the Kenwood team’s patience and professionalism in supporting the success of the Air Force Junior ROTC program here at Kenwood.

Kenwood’s administration, counseling department, and building service workers went above and beyond in significantly assisting the Kenwood Mission with the recent USAF-BCPS Assessment. It was a team effort in working towards Kenwood’s AFJROTC in receiving the milestone award of ” EXCEEDS STANDARDS” which is the highest award the USAF awards. This places Kenwood High School’s AFJROTC in the Top Tier 1% of all 120,000 cadets nationwide!
