College Football Wraps Up Tonight with Championship Between Alabama and Georgia
January 10, 2022
It’s that time of the year for football playoffs and just as the NFL is kicking off their playoff season, college football is wrapping theirs up tonight with the Championship in Indianapolis with the Georgia taking on the Alabama.
The college football playoff season was a great season that ended in a few surprises. The #1 ranked (12-1) Alabama took on the #4 ranked (13-0) Cincinnati. Many think of Alabama as the best program in the nation and it’s not much of a debate as they have the best head coach in Nick Saban and the now Heisman winning sophomore QB Bryce Young. They also sport a good rushing attack with good receivers and a great defense as they destroyed Georgia in the SEC Championship 41-24.
Cincinnati was the surprise team as they went undefeated even though they really didn’t play anybody of significance this season but they are the feel good story of the 2021 season. They played with a stout defense and dual threat senior QB Desmond Ridder.
The #2 ranked (12-1) Michigan took on the #3 raked (12-1) Georgia. Michigan finally broke through to the playoff as head coach Jim Harbaugh won a big game vs Ohio St that ultimately propelled them here. They have an amazing defense with a great pass rush that includes senior edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson and a solid offense with a good running game and a decent passing game.
Georgia was the #1 seed for most of the year as they have the best defense in the nation however their offense has had some problems especially with QB Stetson Bennett as he has struggled to play from behind and even just pass the ball in general but they do bolster a top rushing attack.
Alabama ended up blowing out Cincinnati 27-6 and Georgia blew out Michigan 34-11 as neither game was very close or that good to watch for the normal casual fan. But now tonight we have Georgia vs Alabama which should be a great game and is a rematch of the SEC Championship in which Alabama won 41-24.
Penn State superfan Isaiah Jones said that he didn’t pay attention as much this season as Penn State wasn’t too good this year and says they were the biggest disappointment while Cincy was the biggest surprise. “I believe that Alabama will win again as boring as that sounds. They’re just the best team.”
Georgia fan Jayden Glass paid a lot more attention this season and thinks that Michigan St. was the most disappointing for this season while Cincy was the most surprising. “As much as I love my Bulldogs I see Bama beating us pretty handily 34-30. I don’t think it’ll be as lopsided as last time but Bama is just too good,” he said.
All in all tonight’s game should be a great way to cap off the 2021 CFB Playoff and the CFB Season as a whole and it’s great that it gets to end with the two best teams going head to head to decide who really gets to call themselves the college champion heading into next year.
